Ways to get involved

We are 100% volunteer-run, which means we always need the help of committed volunteers like you. Whether you are based in the Netherlands or elsewhere, here are three ways you can support Sunflowers Speak students:

Volunteer Teachers

No teaching experience required, just a strong command of the English language and a love of working with people. We'll supply with you the support and materials you need to guide a small group, online or offline, towards a stronger command of the English language. We currently need teachers for Beginner (A0-A2) and Intermediate (B0-B2) classes. Note: You do not need to be based in NL to teach online, many of our volunteers span the globe from the United States to South Africa to Iraq to the UK.

Speaking Club Support

Nearly every month we organize a fun get together in Amsterdam. From museums to city tours we invite students to practice English in an informal group setting while getting an extra dose of Dutch culture. We need people to help organize these events and show up 1x Saturday per month. This is a great option if you can't commit to (bi)weekly support and want to make friends along the way. No teaching involved, but volunteers should feel okay in front of small groups.

Office Work

Administrative Support

It takes a lot of work to make our non-profit a success, so if you want to help us on the back end (think IT, social media, course registration, teacher support) then this is the role for you. You will work behind the scenes with our Board Members and  volunteers to ensure the smooth running and maximum impact of our foundation. Have a specialized skill you think would benefit Sunflowers Speak? Don't hesitate to reach out - we're always open to new ideas!

"Because I'm originally from Eastern Europe, these classes helped me feel like I am closer to the struggles of Ukrainian people. I think these students were teaching me as much as I was teaching them."
